Two 14 year old male students tragically lost their lives in a motorcycle accident in Ranong. The incident occurred when their vehicle lost control and crashed into a concrete pole bearing a speed reduction sign, resulting in their immediate deaths.

Police Lieutenant Puriphat Suksawat of Mueang Ranong Police Station received a report of the accident at 4.30pm,yesterday, April 6. The incident occurred on Phetkasem Road at the three-way intersection of Suan, inbound to Mueang Ranong, Bang Non subdistrict, Mueang Ranong district.

The crash involved a motorcycle colliding with a footpath and a concrete pole in a community zone. Emergency services from Ranong Hospital, Ranong Rescue Foundation, and Ranong Highway Police were promptly dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the rescue team found two male high school students from a local provincial school, later identified as Lapaskorn and Phongsatorn, both 14 years old. They were discovered lying on the footpath in sports attire.

Sadly, both were pronounced dead at the scene. Approximately 50 metres away, their Honda PCX motorcycle, license plate 1 กฉ Ranong 5455, lay on the road with severe front-end damage from the impact.

Investigators found two mobile phones on the road, but they were locked with personal passcodes, preventing immediate identification. Highway police checked the motorcycle’s storage compartment and discovered the registration book, which led them to contact the relatives of one of the deceased.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two students had planned to exercise that evening, informing their guardians they were going to play badminton. They were travelling at high speed when they approached a curve, veered into the inner lane, and collided with the footpath edge. This caused them to crash into the concrete pole, which broke and fell on them, leading to their deaths.

When family members arrived at the scene, they were overcome with grief. Forensic doctors from Ranong Hospital conducted autopsies, while volunteer rescuers cordoned off the area and removed the pole.

Initial assessments suggest that the students died from severe impacts with the concrete pole. Their bodies were taken to the forensic department of Ranong Hospital for further examination to determine the exact cause of death, reported KhaoSod.

CCTV footage near the scene captured the motorcycle travelling at high speed, entering the curve, and veering into the inner lane before hitting the footpath. Although the sound of the crash was recorded, the moment of collision with the pole was not captured.
